Whirlabout

Polites vibex

Polites vibex, commonly known as the Whirlabout, is a small grass skipper in the family Hesperiidae. It is named for its rapid, erratic, whirling flight, which makes it a familiar sight in grassy habitats. The Whirlabout is widespread across the southern United States, Mexico, Central America, and parts of South America, inhabiting lawns, fields, roadsides, and other grassy areas. Adults are often seen flying low over grass or perching on blades, frequently making short, darting flights.
