​Subfamily Hesperiinae, commonly known as the grass skippers, is the largest subfamily within the butterfly family Hesperiidae. Comprising thousands of species distributed worldwide, members of Hesperiinae are generally small to medium-sized butterflies characterized by their stout bodies, hooked antennae, rapid darting flight, and typically orange, brown, yellow, or tan wing coloration. Most species inhabit grasslands, meadows, savannas, forest edges, wetlands, and other open habitats where their larval host plants occur.
