TRIBE NYMPHIDIINI

Tribe Nymphidiini

Tribe Nymphidiini is a diverse group of metalmark butterflies (family Riodinidae) that is especially rich in the tropical and subtropical regions of Mexico, particularly in the rainforests, cloud forests, and tropical dry forests of the south. These butterflies are generally small and often display intricate patterns of brown, black, orange, red, white, or metallic markings that make them among the most beautiful members of the metalmark family. Many species inhabit the forest understory, where they perch on leaves, visit flowers, or patrol shaded trails with rapid, fluttering flight.
