Subfamily Limenitidinae is a diverse subfamily of brush-footed butterflies within the family Nymphalidae, commonly known as the admirals and their relatives. They are generally medium-sized butterflies characterized by broad wings marked with striking bands, spots, or contrasting color patterns that often serve in camouflage, mimicry, or species recognition. Many species are strong fliers and inhabit forests, woodland edges, river corridors, gardens, and other vegetated habitats.
