Genus Ectomis is a small genus of Neotropical skipper butterflies in the family Hesperiidae, found from Mexico and Central America into parts of South America. These butterflies are generally small to medium-sized, with sturdy bodies, hooked antennae, and the rapid, darting flight characteristic of skippers. Their wings are typically shades of brown or dark brown, often marked with faint pale spots or translucent markings that help distinguish the species. Ectomis butterflies inhabit tropical forests, forest margins, secondary growth, and tropical dry forests, where adults are commonly seen visiting flowers for nectar or resting on low vegetation in sunny clearings.
