Antigonon flavescens is a climbing vine in the buckwheat family (Polygonaceae), native to parts of Mexico and Central America. It is recognized for its slender, twining stems and delicate, heart-shaped leaves, along with its pale yellow to creamy-white flowers that appear in loose clusters.
Description
• Antigonon flavescens is a climbing vine in the buckwheat family (Polygonaceae), related to the coral vine (Antigonon leptopus). Members of this genus climb using tendrils and have alternate, heart-shaped leaves and clusters of small flowers. The name flavescens means “yellowish” or “becoming yellow,” suggesting a yellow-flowered characteristic. Detailed species-specific information about its appearance is limited.
Range
• Antigonon flavescens is associated with Mexico, although its precise distribution and taxonomic status may require confirmation. It is native to Zihuatanejo, Guerrero, and the surrounding area.
Habitat
• It is associated with warm tropical environments, where climbing vines may grow along woodland edges, in thickets, and among shrubs and trees. Species of Antigonon commonly occur in sunny or partly shaded sites in seasonally dry habitats.
