Dogwoods, Hydrangeas, and Allies (Order Cornales)
Order Cornales is one of the earliest-diverging lineages of flowering plants (angiosperms) within the eudicots and comprises approximately 2,000 species distributed among several families worldwide. Members of this order include trees, shrubs, vines, and herbaceous plants that occur primarily in temperate forests, tropical woodlands, wetlands, and montane regions. The best-known family is Cornaceae, which includes the ornamental and ecologically important dogwoods.
