Ricinus communis, or Castor Bean, is a species of flowering shrub native to tropical Africa. It grows in open savannas, woodlands, and forests and is widely distributed across North and South America. Castor Beans are a valuable agricultural crop, used as a source of oil and for medicinal purposes. The plant can grow up to 12 feet tall, with large, lobed leaves and clusters of small, red flowers. The fruits are spiny, green capsules containing bright red, glossy seeds.
