Genus Ministrymon is a genus of small hairstreak butterflies in the family Lycaenidae, found primarily in the Americas from the southern United States and Mexico through Central America, and into South America. These butterflies are typically small and greyish-brown, with finely patterned undersides marked by delicate lines, spots, and bands that provide excellent camouflage when resting on bark, twigs, or leaves. Most species possess short hindwing tails and eye-like markings near the tail region, forming a "false head" that can misdirect attacks from predators. Adults often perch in sunny openings, along forest edges, and in tropical dry forests, where they visit flowers, damp soil, and organic matter for nutrients.
