Tribe Eumaeini is the largest and most diverse tribe of hairstreak butterflies in the family Lycaenidae and is exceptionally well represented in Mexico, where it occurs in habitats ranging from deserts and tropical dry forests to cloud forests and high-elevation pine-oak woodlands. These small butterflies are often recognized by their delicate tails on the hindwings, intricate patterns of lines and spots on the undersides, and, in many species, iridescent blue, green, or purple coloration on the upper wing surfaces.
