Wild Tantan (Desmanthus virgatus), also known as “virgate mimosa,” is a perennial shrub or herb in the legume family (Fabaceae) native to tropical and subtropical regions of the Americas. It typically grows 0.5 to 2 meters tall, with slender, erect stems and fine, feathery bipinnate leaves that give it a delicate appearance. The plant produces small, rounded clusters of white to pale cream flowers, which later develop into elongated, narrow seed pods that often curl when mature.
