Grona triflora, known as creeping tick trefoil or three-flower beggarweed, is a plant in the family Fabaceae. Creeping tick trefoil has been utilized in traditional medicine. Conditions it has been used for include wounds, diarrhea, rheumatism, dysentery, and skin diseases. It has clover like leaves divided into 3 leaflets. It has tiny flowers ranging from reddish violet to light pink in colour.
Description
• Grona triflora is a creeping or trailing herb in the legume family (Fabaceae). It has slender stems, compound leaves typically consisting of three leaflets, and small pea-shaped flowers that may be pink, purplish, or whitish. The flowers are borne in small clusters, and the fruits are flattened, segmented pods characteristic of many members of the legume family. Its low-growing habit allows it to spread across the ground or among other vegetation.
Range
• Grona triflora occurs in tropical and subtropical regions, particularly in parts of Asia and the Pacific, and has been recorded in other warm regions. Its status and distribution in Mexico are less well documented.
Habitat
• It grows in warm environments in open grassland, roadsides, disturbed ground, and along the edges of vegetation. Like many small legumes, it can grow in sunny or partially shaded sites and may spread through low-growing vegetation where the soil is not excessively waterlogged.
