Acalypha phleoides, commonly known as Shrubby Copperleaf or Lindheimer's Copperleaf, is a hardy perennial herb or small shrub native to the southwestern United States and Mexico. It typically grows in an erect or spreading fashion, reaching heights of 8 to 20 inches, and is often found in rocky areas, grasslands, and oak or pine woodlands. It has dense terminal spikes that appear from late spring through fall. These spikes have a distinctive reddish appearance due to the long, crimson style branches of the female flowers positioned at the base, while the smaller, reddish-brown male flowers are clustered above.
