ORDER ZINGIBERALES
-
Gingers, Bananas, and Allies (Order Zingiberales)
Order Zingiberales is a distinctive order of tropical flowering plants (angiosperms) comprising approximately 2,600 species in eight families, including some of the world's most economically and horticulturally important plants. Members of this order are primarily large perennial herbs with broad leaves, robust underground rhizomes, and showy, often brightly coloured flowers adapted for pollination by insects, birds, or bats. Zingiberales are distributed mainly throughout the tropical and subtropical regions.
