Perichares adela, commonly known as the Green-backed Ruby-eye, is a distinctive skipper butterfly in the family Hesperiidae. It is named for two striking features: its bright red eyes and the greenish sheen or scaling on the thorax (“back”). This species is found in Mexico, Central America, and parts of South America, inhabiting tropical forests, edges, and shaded clearings. Adults are fast, powerful fliers, often seen darting through vegetation and briefly perching on leaves.
