Telegonus fulgerator

The Two-barred Flasher (Telegonus fulgerator, formerly Astraptes fulgerator) is a large, distinctive skipper butterfly known for its iridescent blue body and quick, darting flight. The upperside is deep brown to black wings with iridescent blue at the base and on the thorax. The forewings feature a prominent off-white or light blue discal band and small white spots near the apex. The species complex is found across the Americas, ranging from southern Texas through Central America to northern Argentina. Adults often rest upside down under large leaves and feed on flower nectar or bird droppings.
