Order Myrtales is a large and diverse order of flowering plants (angiosperms) comprising more than 13,000 species distributed throughout tropical, subtropical, and temperate regions of the world. Members include herbs, shrubs, vines, and trees that inhabit forests, wetlands, savannas, heathlands, and coastal ecosystems. Many species are characterized by simple leaves with aromatic essential oils, showy flowers with numerous conspicuous stamens, and fleshy or woody fruits.
