Order Ericales is a large and highly diverse order of flowering plants (angiosperms) comprising more than 12,000 species distributed throughout tropical, subtropical, and temperate regions of the world. Members include herbs, shrubs, vines, trees, and epiphytes that occupy habitats ranging from acidic heathlands and temperate forests to tropical rainforests, wetlands, and alpine regions. The order contains many economically and ecologically important families, including Ericaceae, which includes blueberries, cranberries, rhododendrons, and heathers.
