Suborder Polyphaga is the largest and most diverse suborder of beetles within the order Coleoptera, containing more than 90% of all known beetle species and representing the vast majority of beetle diversity worldwide. Members of Polyphaga occupy virtually every terrestrial and many freshwater habitats, including forests, grasslands, deserts, wetlands, caves, and agricultural ecosystems.
