It is distinguished by its toothed (dentate) leaf margins, from which it gets its name, and its vibrant yellow, sunflower-like inflorescences that bloom prominently in open, sunny environments. The plant typically grows in arid to semi-arid habitats, such as rocky hillsides and dry grasslands, where it thrives in well-drained soils. Like other Aldama species, A. dentata plays a role in supporting pollinators and stabilizing soil in erosion-prone areas.
