Yellow Merremia (Camonea umbellata) is an herbaceous flowering vine native to tropics in the Americas and western Africa. Hogvine blooms with showy yellow flowers and the thin vines sprout sparse hairs. The flowers attract bees, butterflies and birds. Although it is common in forest situations, it favours more open situations along the edges of fields, plantations and water bodies.
Description
• Camonea umbellata, commonly known as yellow merremia, is a twining perennial vine in the morning-glory family (Convolvulaceae). It has slender climbing stems, simple leaves that may vary in shape, and yellow, funnel-shaped flowers. The flowers arise singly or in small clusters, and the plant produces small capsules containing seeds. Its winding stems allow it to spread through grasses, shrubs, and other vegetation.
