​Order Solanales is a diverse order of flowering plants (angiosperms) comprising more than 5,000 species distributed throughout tropical, subtropical, and temperate regions of the world. Members include herbs, shrubs, vines, trees, and a few parasitic plants that occupy habitats ranging from forests and grasslands to deserts, wetlands, and agricultural landscapes. The order is dominated by two large families: Solanaceae and Convolvulaceae. The nightshade family contains many economically important food crops and ornamental plants, including Tomato, Potato, Bell Pepper, Eggplant, and Petunia.
