Family Latridiidae comprises the minute brown scavenger beetles, a family of very small beetles in the order Coleoptera. These beetles are typically only 1–3 millimeters long and are usually brown, reddish-brown, or dark-colored, with elongated or oval bodies often marked by ridges, pits, or sculptured surfaces. Latridiids are commonly found in damp environments such as leaf litter, under bark, decaying vegetation, fungi, stored products, compost, bird nests, and moldy buildings. Most species feed primarily on fungal spores, molds, mildews, and other microscopic organic material.
