Vitaceae are a family of dicotyledonous flowering plants including the grape and Virginia creeper. The Ampelocissus acapulcensis species has a native range of Mexico to El Salvador.

Description

• Ampelocissus acapulcensis is a woody climbing vine in the grape family (Vitaceae). Like other members of the genus Ampelocissus, it climbs through surrounding vegetation using tendrils and has alternate, often palmately veined leaves. Its small flowers grow in clusters and develop into fleshy, grape-like berries as they mature. Species-specific details of its flower colour, fruit colour, and leaf variation are limited.

Range

• Ampelocissus acapulcensis is native to Mexico and is associated with the Pacific coastal region. It is native to Zihuatanejo, Guerrero, and the surrounding area.

Habitat

• This vine grows in tropical and seasonally dry environments, including deciduous forest, woodland edges, and thickets. It uses shrubs and trees for support and is often found in areas where sunlight reaches the lower vegetation, particularly along forest margins and in secondary growth.
