Family Boraginaceae, commonly known as the borage or forget-me-not family, is a diverse family of flowering plants comprising about 2,000 species in more than 90 genera, distributed worldwide but especially abundant in temperate regions and seasonally dry tropical habitats. Members of this family include annuals, perennials, shrubs, and a few trees, many of which are characterized by rough, hairy leaves and stems, coiled flower clusters (scorpioid cymes), and small, five-petaled flowers that are often blue but may also be white, pink, purple, or yellow. Well-known representatives include Forget-me-not, Borage, and Common Heliotrope.
