Diet

• Adults: Feed on the leaves of their host plants, chewing small areas of foliage.

• Larvae: Feed on the leaves of host plants, developing through several larval stages before pupation.

• The species is associated with woody and herbaceous plants, although its precise host-plant associations are not as well documented as those of some other Calligrapha species.

Range

• Calligrapha multipustulata is a Mesoamerican species, distributed from the Sierra Madre Occidental of Mexico southward through Central America to northern Nicaragua.

Habitat

• Associated with tropical dry forests, tropical deciduous forests, woodland edges, secondary vegetation, and forest clearings.

• Adults and larvae occur on the foliage of their host plants.

• It has been recorded from both relatively dry western Mexican habitats and more humid areas farther south.

Size

• Approximately 6–10 mm (0.24–0.39 in), consistent with the size range of Calligrapha species.

• Body broadly oval and convex, with the intricate spotting characteristic of calligrapher beetles.
