Subfamily Criocerinae comprises the shining leaf beetles, a distinctive group within the family Chrysomelidae. Members of this subfamily are generally small to medium-sized beetles with elongated, cylindrical bodies, smooth wing covers, and often striking coloration featuring combinations of red, orange, yellow, blue, metallic green, and black. Criocerines are primarily herbivorous, with both adults and larvae feeding on the leaves, stems, flowers, or shoots of monocotyledonous plants, especially lilies, asparagus, palms, grasses, and related plants.
