Subfamily Eumolpinae is a large and diverse group of leaf beetles within the family Chrysomelidae, containing several thousand species distributed primarily in tropical and subtropical regions, although some occur in temperate areas as well. Members of Eumolpinae are typically small to medium-sized beetles with robust, oval bodies and often striking metallic colors, including shades of green, blue, bronze, gold, or purple. Both adults and larvae are herbivorous. Adults usually feed on leaves, flowers, or young shoots, while larvae commonly live in the soil and feed on roots or decaying plant material.
