Superfamily Cleroidea is a diverse group of beetles within the order Coleoptera, comprising several families including the checkered beetles (Cleridae), soft-winged flower beetles (Melyridae), and their relatives. Members of this superfamily are generally small to medium-sized beetles that exhibit a wide range of body forms, colours, and ecological adaptations. Many species are predators of other insects, particularly wood-boring beetles and bark beetles, making them important natural regulators of forest pest populations. Others feed on pollen, nectar, fungi, or decaying organic matter.
