Range

• Found throughout the tropical eastern Pacific, from the Gulf of California and the Pacific coast of Mexico south through Central America to Peru, including the Galápagos Islands.

• Widespread along the Pacific coast of Mexico, including the Guerrero coastline and the Zihuatanejo region.

Habitat

• Grows on rocky reefs, coral rubble, reef flats, tide pools, and shallow coastal rocks.

• Most common in clear, shallow marine waters from the lower intertidal zone to depths of approximately 20 m (66 ft).

• Often forms small colonies in areas with moderate wave action and good water circulation.

Size

• Frond height: 5–15 cm (2–6 in), occasionally reaching 20 cm (8 in).

• Frond width: 3–10 cm (1.2–4 in).

• Forms fan-shaped clusters that may spread over areas 30–50 cm (12–20 in) across.
