The Apioninae subfamily of weevils, part of the Curculionidae family (true weevils), includes species commonly known as pear-shaped weevils. These weevils are named for their distinctive pear-like body shape and are characterized by a bulging, rounded body and a relatively short but stout rostrum (snout).
