FAMILY BRENTIDAE

Family Brentidae comprises the straight-snouted weevils and their relatives, a diverse family within the superfamily Curculionoidea. Members of Brentidae are distributed worldwide, with the greatest diversity occurring in tropical and subtropical regions. These beetles are characterized by their elongated bodies and relatively straight, often slender snouts, which distinguish many species from the more robust true weevils. Most brentids are associated with plants, fungi, dead wood, seeds, fruits, or stems, where their larvae develop and feed.
