Charidotella sexpunctata, commonly known as the golden tortoise beetle, is a species in the family Chrysomelidae, renowned for its remarkable metallic, reflective coloration. This beetle’s appearance can change depending on its mood, age, or health. C. sexpunctata is known for its striking gold or golden-red metallic sheen, which is caused by a layer of liquid beneath the cuticle that reflects light. When disturbed or stressed, the beetle may lose its golden hue, revealing a reddish-brown colour with characteristic black spots on its elytra.
