Tribe Satyrini is a diverse group of brush-footed butterflies (family Nymphalidae) commonly known as satyrs, ringlets, and browns, and is well represented throughout Mexico in habitats ranging from deserts and grasslands to cloud forests, pine-oak woodlands, and tropical forests. Members of this tribe are typically small to medium-sized butterflies with wings coloured in shades of brown, tan, grey, or orange, often marked with distinctive eyespots that help deter predators. Their subdued coloration provides excellent camouflage among grasses, leaf litter, and forest understory vegetation. Satyrini butterflies usually have a slow, bouncing flight and are often seen flying close to the ground along trails, forest edges, and grassy clearings.
