Family Anthribidae comprises the fungus weevils, a distinctive family within the superfamily Curculionoidea. Most species are small to medium-sized beetles with mottled patterns of grey, brown, black, white, or reddish scales that provide excellent camouflage on bark, fungi, and decaying wood. Both adults and larvae are commonly associated with fungi, especially bracket fungi, wood-decaying fungi, molds, and fungal-infested plant material. Many species develop in dead wood, beneath bark, or within fungal fruiting bodies, where the larvae feed on fungal tissues or decaying organic matter.
