Superfamily Curculionoidea, commonly known as the weevils and snout beetles, is one of the largest and most diverse groups of beetles within the suborder Polyphaga, containing more than 60,000 described species worldwide. Members of this superfamily are most easily recognized by their elongated snout or rostrum, although the length and shape of the rostrum vary considerably among species. Curculionoids are primarily plant-associated insects, with both larvae and adults feeding on a wide variety of plant tissues including leaves, stems, roots, seeds, fruits, wood, and bark.
