Subfamily Lamprosomatinae is a distinctive group of leaf beetles within the family Chrysomelidae. Members of this subfamily are generally small, compact, and strongly convex, often appearing almost turtle-like in shape. Many species possess smooth, glossy, and sometimes metallic coloration in shades of green, blue, bronze, black, or gold. Lamprosomatines are most diverse in tropical and subtropical regions, although they occur worldwide. Adults are herbivorous and feed on the leaves of a variety of trees, shrubs, and other plants.
