​Family Curculionidae comprises the true weevils or snout beetles, the largest family of animals on Earth, with more than 60,000 described species. They are typically characterized by a well-developed rostrum (snout), at the tip of which are the chewing mouthparts, and by their elbowed antennae that arise from the snout. Adults range from tiny species only a few millimetres long to larger forms exceeding several centimetres. Most are herbivorous and highly specialized, feeding on leaves, seeds, fruits, flowers, stems, roots, bark, or wood of particular host plants.
