Subfamily Galerucinae is one of the largest and most diverse groups of leaf beetles within the family Chrysomelidae, containing many thousands of species distributed throughout the world. Members of Galerucinae are generally small to medium-sized beetles with oval to elongated bodies and a wide variety of colors and patterns, ranging from dull brown and black to brightly colored yellow, orange, green, or metallic forms. Both adults and larvae are primarily herbivorous, feeding on the leaves, flowers, stems, or roots of a vast array of plants. Many species are highly host-specific, while others feed on numerous plant families.
