Naupactini Broad-Nosed Weevils
Naupactini (Tribe)
Naupactini are diverse, broad-nosed weevils (Curculionidae: Entiminae) primarily from the Neotropics, known for varied colorful scales, flightlessness, parthenogenesis, ectophytic root-feeding larvae, and significant diversity in South America, with many species lacking functional hindwings. They range from 3.5-35mm and display iridescent or opaque scales, often having stout bodies and distinctive legs, with eggs laid in crevices and larvae developing in soil.
