Subfamily Entiminae comprises the broad-nosed weevils, one of the largest and most diverse subfamilies within the family Curculionidae. With more than 12,000 described species worldwide, Entiminae occurs in nearly every terrestrial habitat, from tropical rainforests and deserts to grasslands, shrublands, agricultural fields, and urban gardens. Members of this subfamily are characterized by a relatively short, broad rostrum (snout), robust bodies, and antennae that arise near the sides of the snout. Many species are covered with colourful scales or dense hairs that create intricate patterns of green, blue, white, gray, brown, or metallic hues, often providing excellent camouflage.
