True Weevils of Zihuatanejo

GENUS MEGALOSTYLUS

Genus Megalostylus is a genus of broad-nosed weevils in the family Curculionidae and subfamily Entiminae. This genus is endemic to Mexico, meaning its species are found nowhere else in the world. Members of Megalostylus are typically medium-sized weevils with robust, oval bodies and a short, broad rostrum characteristic of many entimine weevils. Their bodies are usually covered with dense scales and setae that produce mottled patterns of gray, brown, white, or greenish hues, providing camouflage on bark, foliage, and branches. Adults are herbivorous and feed on the leaves of various plants.
