Subfamily Molytinae is one of the largest and most diverse subfamilies of true weevils within the family Curculionidae, containing thousands of species distributed throughout the world. Molytine weevils occupy an extraordinary range of habitats, including forests, woodlands, wetlands, grasslands, deserts, and agricultural landscapes. They vary greatly in size, shape, and appearance, but most possess a well-developed rostrum (snout), robust body, and cryptic coloration that helps them blend into bark, wood, leaves, or soil.
